Proteinuria

Severity of Proteinuria

Source: Chapter 26 from Skorecki, K et al. 2016

Using these urine albumin to creatinine ratios to approximate protein excretion per 24 hours requires the assumption that daily creatinine excretion is 1.0 grams / 24 hours

What severity of proteinuria did our patient have?

Urine Albumin: 400.0 mg/dL

  uACR = 4,395 mg/g

Urine Protein: >600.0 mg/dL

  uPCR = >6,593 mg/g

Nephrotic Range

Does our patient have nephrotic syndrome?

Maybe. Does have nephrotic range proteinuria and peripheral edema, though minimal hypoalbuminemia (3.3 g/dL)
